Good, I also encourage all the fourth years to persevere and continue working. I am told some of them are very nervous about D day. But you are all going to do fine! They are going to act as ushers on the 25th as it is their day and they have to be perfect hosts for their guests. They are also going to do the bar tendering, serving the wine, offering the appetizers, if there are any, etc. So things are coming on nicely. You are going to do fine so please join in and participate! Good luck to everyone

I am absolutely worried because of the composition. Since I was a child I‘ve always been having trouble with the spelling. My mind doesn’t work properly and I don’t “see” the words inside it. Other times I’m not able to remember how a word is written. For instance, I don’t know how to write three of the commonest words in English: Mother, house and daughter. In fact in this very moment I’ve written the second one with an “a”. Anyway, I usually take advantage of the fact that we live in the 21st century and we don’t use handwriting; I use a computer to write. During this weekend I’ve been training how to write without a computer. It is as though you were training with a pair of special trainers for a long, long time in order to do a course, and then, the day of the course you have to use different shoes. You’ll be at disadvantage. As I was saying, I took a sheet of paper and wrote something, and then I did a second reading to find the mistakes. When I thought the composition was perfectly right I copied it in the computer exactly as it was in the paper. Te result of this experiment was absolutely discouraging; I had so many mistakes that I got depressed. It was as if a completely illiterate had written the text. I don’t want to make a fool in front of those unknown people. They will laugh at me and I’m embarrassed. I would like to take part in the competition, but I don’t dare to do it. I’ve been writing using a computer for the last 20 years, a very long time indeed (in fact more than the whole life of Sergio, for instance)(Sergio is a mate of mine, he is in my class and he is 19). Good luck for all of you.

Paloma, don’t be afraid you must concentrate in your thoughts about the novel and we must avoid mistakes I think that is not the most important thing in the contest. Good luck! I will be doing it tomorrow.

Some of you have already writen the essay... Tell us how well you have done it!

Anónimo dijo...

I have been thinking about the essay and I have writen a outline and I have the impression of wanting to tell a lot of things but without studying in depth... 600 words are not enough to analyse this novel!!! Good luck to everybody!!!!!

Anónimo dijo...

Good luck, yes! You've got a difficult mission but you've worked hard and had good training, so in spite of being in fourth year, I'm sure you'll do a great job. Be positive! (Thumb up!)
Some other news: The English Department has ordered 500 Reading Club cards for us all, but it's on-line shopping and we don't know if things will turn out OK! If they don't get to our school next Tuesday, we're in trouble! :O (eek!) (hahahaha...)
We're also working in adding some links here to some or other BBC radio program, for our enjoyment!

I couldn't go to the lessons last Wednesday so I haven't heart anything about the arrangements for next Friday. The date being so soon, it is worried that nobody has told us what we have to do. I mean, I think we have to be there at four but I am not sure. Does anybody know anything else?

Anónimo dijo...

I have read Paloma's text. Sure that all of you did a good job yesterday, I could not be yesterday but I try to arrive today before the six to help you. I am totally sure that the meeting will be sucesfull. The english department have made a very good job. Congratulations
